Best hibachi in Westchester
Looking for the best hibachi dining experience anywhere in Westchester. Am not looking as much for the "fun" element as for the meal, although a combination of both would be nice. Most of us would probably order beef/filet mignon.

And FYI while I have not been to Noda's in about a year I do know that there was a management change in the past few months. So I do wonder if there have been changes.
And the reason I have not been back is just too many other places on wish list ;>D›1 Reply-
re: Jon1856
I am going to have to give a shoout out to Noda's. It is my favorite Hibachi place. My boyfriend and I always get the filet mignon when we do the hibachi thing, and this place does it the BEST. It has the most tasty filet out of all the hibachi places in Westchester.
Also, and this is why I have to practice HEAVY breathing excercises before I go to a hibachi place, it is NOT annoying. My big pet peeve with hibachi places is (actually there are more than one)
1) Having to sit with people. No offense to the human race, but I always get sadled with the most obnoxious and annoying people when I do the hibachi thing. My boyfriend always laughs at me because he knows how some people just annoy me. He makes me sit by them on purpose. Sure enough, I sit down, nod politely at the others at the table and make sure my nod indicates that while it may be nice that we are sharing a meal together, I don't want to hear about a)Your new baby b) Your cousin c) How drunk you got last night. But then it always happens. The voice comes. I am looking the other way and THEN, "So, you come here often!" * Just once I will go to a hibachi place and be seated by people that I want to talk to and that are not drunk.
With that being said, Noda seems to have less obnoxious people than most. Sure, I still have not met any that would ever go on my speed dial, but I did not attempt to mame myself with a fork either.
Noda is awesome. Best atmosphere and best filet.

My kids love going to hibachi/teppanyaki places and here are some of the ones we've tried:
1. Mt Fuji (Larchmont): my kids' fave place. Decent food, great portions, they do wonderful bday parties there as well. Front of house staff are excellent, the servers sometimes can be a bit rushed/grumpy. Acceptable sushi as well, if you want it.
2. Edo (Port Chester): more modern, a bit more expensive than Mt Fuji, same type of food(s). No sushi. More "elegant"...if that's possible.
3. Noda's (White Plains): haven't been there in over a year as the last time was just god-awful. Dirty, dark, food not good, chefs bored, staff is rush rush rush...anyway, the less said the better. Eat at your own risk.
4. Gasho (Hawthorne): not too bad...if a bit far. Same type of menu as the others (aren't they all?). Service is great though, v friendly. In the end, they all serve the same type of food(s) and you leave with your clothes reeking of the meal you just ate. IMHO I would recommend Mt Fuji.
If you find another place, let us know.

re: BAFU
I disagree on Noda. I had never been there before and we had a surprisingly good meal there a few months ago. Was not dark, seemed clean enough and the food was good. We were there at 5:30 and we were not rushed, although it is hard to say because we were a party of 8 (4 kids and 4 adults) so we get in an out fairly quickly regardless of where we are.

re: BAFU
Don't get me wrong, it's not the best food I've had in my life, but it was pretty good. It is not cheap. Even with my kids ordering off the kids menu (same food, just smaller portions), I think it was over $100 for 4 of us -- and we drink Diet Coke.
We have been meaning to try Mt Fuji but haven't gotten there yet.
