dilemma.

Just heard that Animal was picked as the best new chefs by FOOD & WINE for 2009. I was able to get a rez for this coming Saturday. Which created a dilemma. Should we drop either AOC or Lucques to re-book Church & State? Or maintain the drop of Church & State and keep AOC and Lucques?? We are only in town 4 nights.

Since we are not bi-coastal much, the chances of us getting to revisit are slim and we want to get the best experiences possible.

Feedback is appreciated.

By the way:

Breakfast and lunches I have a bunch selected based on where we are roaming in the city so feedback not needed there. But dinners secured are:

Lucques
AOC
Animal
Bazaar

Much as I like both AOC and Lucques, I would drop one of them (which one would depend on whether you want little plates and a variety of wines [AOC] or a "regular" meal [Lucques]) to go to Church & State; although they are very different restaurants, they are both from Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne. Church & State features the cooking of the very talented Walter Manzke and should not be missed if you are inclined to travel downtown.

Don't know if you saw this recent review of AOC or not? It may give you some better ideas for which places you want to keep and which you may want to keep on the back burner for a different visit.

I would do Lucques, Church & State, Animal and The Bazaar. I like the food at Church & State under Manzke (one of LA's most renowned chefs), and it will be fun to see the street it is on in the beginning to be burgeoning loft area of downtown.
