Two Angelenos in PDX for One Night Only. What to Eat?

My boyfriend and I will be in Portland for one day/night only and I want to make the most of our experience with unforgettable meals. We will be staying at the Hotel Vintage Plaza but are willing to drive anywhere for deliciousness. For lunch, something casual is fine but we want to go all out for dinner. Any type of cuisine will work as long as it's good. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have been to Portland many times but this will be my boyfriend's first time so I want to go to places that really encompass what Portland is all about. I have also been doing a lot of research on this board and think I have narrowed it down to Sel Gris, Park Kitchen or Carlyle for dinner and am thinking either ten-01 for lunch or just hitting the carts. While I would love to go to Pok Pok or le Pigeon, my boyfriend doesn't have the same foodie inclinations as I do and I fear that they may be too extreme for his palate.

Carlyle. The owner (Bruce) is an ex-Angeleno, and the food rocks! Get the chef's tasting menu, and tell them "Missy Kim" says hi!

Perhaps following these two Angelenos might help.

There are way too many options. If you want to get more specific you may get better responses. I'd say Clyde Common, le Pigeon, Beast, Nel Centro, pok pok to name a few.
