bahn mi in or around Providence?

Does anyone know if there are bahn mi to be found in the greater Providence area? I got sort of hooked on 'em when i was in new york awhile back and would rather not go all the way to the super 88 food court in Alston to get my tasty vietnamese sandwich fix.

  1. i just want to refresh this topic because i have never had bahn mi and am eager to try it. also it was mentioned in prov monthly last month which leads me to believe it exists here. anyone?

    1. Aha, I knew i had posted about banh mi (note the spelling for your searching needs) a while back. Some rummaging through the digital closet yielded this older thread. I don't know the name of the place, but it's a very small shop on the south side of Broad St, very roughly across the street from the McDonalds and Pho Paradise. Scroll down for the banh mi discussion.

well i made my way over to broad st to the "asian bakery & vietnamese sandwiches". it was close to closing so it was real quiet. i was quite surprised by the very extensive menu including soups, noodle dishes and curries. for today i ordedered a "regular sandwich" which was meticulously prepared by an adorable 12ish year old boy. i was thrilled that the sandwich was exactly what i expected with an unusual mixture of rich meats and crisp clean raw vegetables. with a pricetag of $2.99 i was more than happy!

        2. I posted on this a while back ...

I have a sense that all you need to do is to start on Broadway at 95 and start heading south, and you will comme across a galaxy of new and different food, beginning with Asian and chnging over to hispanic
