Asheville: Best Saturday morning farmers market?

kimgirl Jun 5, 2009 03:28 PM

Thoughts? Is there one main market to hit or several? Also are there any organic pick-your-own farms happening right now (6/5/09)? Thanks for your help!

We went to the Asheville City Market this morning and it was fabulous. It was our first time. It is open from 8:00 - 1:00. Great selection of produce and cheeses. There was one person (forgot the name) with delicious bread. Also, we bought fresh pasta - it looks good and will hopefully be tasty.

City Market downtown is the largest and the best!

I prefer north Asheville market at unca. Fully shaded, plenty of parking, and alot of the same farms as the city market. Many unique old timer farmers. Mars hill sat. Artisan market is nice as well. Got some fresh amazing GA shrimp and asparagus from Cynthia Camilleri (828-776-6476) Call ahead to pre order or to make sure she has them.

Has anyone been to the Marshall market on sunday afternoon?

I love the Mars Hill market. No problem parking and a little of everything. The vendors are extremely friendly and there's everything from Spinning Spider Creamery to tomato plants to local hormone free black angus beef.
