Lunch on the beach Miami

christie21 Jun 5, 2009 12:07 PM

Going to Miami July 1 - 4. staying a the Ritz Carlton. Where are some good places to eat lunch along the beach? Also, I have dinner reservations at Michael's, Sardinia and BLT Steak - good choices?

    excellent choices!
I lunch often at the Ritz since it's really one of the few , if not only, oceafront spots on South Beach. But, you must walk a bit north along the ocean, past all the hotels to right about near The Raleigh where on the sand is a cart serving some of the best hamburgers in town. Cart on beach is called Love Food Cafe.

when you say on the beach, do you mean literally? If so, slim pickings. I keep hearing about the burgers on the beach around 18th st or so that I never tried. Right off the beach you could also eat at prime 112 (mac & cheese is awesome), or 8 1/2 which I am not entirely thrilled with but have never eaten at their brand new location on 15th and ocean. You can have a burger too at smith & wollensky (not the best but pretty good). I like clarkes better than s&w but it is a few blocks west of the beach and may not qualify. Big pink also serves an ok burger and is very hit or miss on other dishes.

Not really on the beach, but somewhere we could walk to along the beach, so lunch at a hotel that we could walk onto from the beach would be fine.
As to the Talula recommendation, do you think it is different enough than Michael's to go to?
They sort of seemed of the same genre. Please advise. Thanks.

I'd maybe sort of but you can have completely different meals at both. Michaels has a wide seleciton of pretty unique dishes. If you want a steakhouse type atmosphere try prime 112, but get the seabass instead of the steak. The steaks are not great there.

You can easily walk to clarkes if your are south of 5th, el chalan and bbq beach are on 16th and easily walkable from that area. You could always try au pied de couchon which is new and I have not tried. Joes takeaway is a great lunch option too.

Forgot about Martarello - this is a must for lunch.

Joe's Takeaway is closed for the summer. Get the Turkey Burger in October, for something like $6 it can't be beat!

Nikki Beach is directly on the beach and excellent. It is fun to sit on the beds and eat.
