Date Night in Lower Bucks - Please Help Us Figure Out Where To Go!

We're dropping the kids off at my folks house in Bristol tomorrow night for our first date night in I have no idea how long. A long time. Our girl is excited and will be fine w/o us but our little guy has been notoriously sad when we try to leave him. So....we'd like to find somewhere with decent food and a nice bar that's not all that far from Bristol in case we get called back. :( We'll be going early-ish, around 6.

I've looked at the Yardley Inn and their bar menu looks a little sad. There's that Toscana place on Street Rd and then there's some place called ViVa! Lounge & Steak House (Portugese) in Feasterville that looks interesting but I can't find too many reviews giving it a yay or nay.

A little about us: We can't stand most chains, my husband is a beer snob and I like bartenders who know how to make old fashioned cocktails.

Any opinions on what I've mentioned or some new ideas would be great.

Rouget in Newtown. Very good food, nice romantic atmosphere but BYOB so you won't get a cocktail.

Would Newtown be too far? If not, Isaac Newton's has a really good beer selection and decent food.

Unfortunately most of lower bucks consists of alot of chains.

We wound up at Isaac Newtons. :)
You are right - great beer selection. We shared fries, calamari and a cheddar bacon burger. I especially liked the burger - very messy and cooked perfectly to our order. My one disappointment was my cocktail. They didn't have any simple sugar behind the bar so I just got a Bombay and tonic. It was served in a soda glass and was VERY weak. I told the waiter and he said he'd have the bartender put some pants on it. I laughed at that - very cute. The next drink was better but not perfect. I guess I should know better than to expect more from this kind of bar - but c'mon....a gin and tonic?!

Anyway, thanks for the recommendation, AG!

Have you been to Los Sarapes in Chalfont?

Way too far - that's Central Bucks.
