Le Bernardin
Went this past Wednesday for a special dinner. After looking at the menu, we decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing. I have been to Le Bernardin before, but never did the tasting. Started with a nice glass of champagne and then the experience began. First course was the hamachi tartar with great citrus notes and a tiny bit of heat...amazing. Then we had the grilled octopus with dots of miso...again amazing. Next was a crusted snapper, a sea bass and ended with a white tuna. The snapper and the bass had very wonderful sauces with them, but I would have prefered a lighter sauce on the tuna as the ending dish. Next was the grapefruit dessert with a nice dessert wine. After that, on the house, was a cream and caramel mixture in an eggshell...this had to be one of the most decadent things I have EVER put in my mouth....OMG!!!! Then, for our "special" dinner, they brought out a passionfruit mousse and also our last dessert which was a hazlenut ice cream with roasted banana and caramel. WOW!!!!! This was soooooooooooo memorable and worth every cent and then some. Along with the nice crowd, beautiful ambiance and perfect service, there is no wonder that Le Bernardin gets rated as highly as it does year after year.
I'm so jealous you got to experience "The Egg"! That is one of their signature desserts!
