LV - Mid-strip Casual

  • 6

We'll be spending one night in Las Vegas at the end of a road trip this July, and will probably end up staying somewhere in what I think is the middle of the strip - Venetian or Bellagio are the most likely candidates. For our dinner, we're not interested in high end restaurants, and don't particularly care about celebrity chefs - in fact, we'd probably look off-strip, but we'll have returned our car and will be looking for someplace that's easily walkable.

Any suggestions for a restaurant in one of the above hotels - or any other place in the vicinity? We're definitely looking for casual dress and atmosphere and entrees in the $20-30 range; any cuisine is OK. Buffets are definitely out.

Thanks!

  1. I like Bouchon which is about in that price range. The food as both breakfast and dinner is excellent.

Mesa Grill is also very good Southwest-type food. Maybe a small bit above your desired price range.

Olives has good food that I recommend as well.

It's difficult to avoid celeb-chefs on the Vegas strip.

Thanks - it's not so much avoiding as not caring; if the restaurant is good on its own terms, that's fine too.

    2. I'd add Enteco San Marco to the list. What you order can puch you out of your price range, particular with alcohol. Here I would order some smaller items, the octopus fingerling salad is really good, and leave room for awesome desserts.

Just to clarify, we're looking for a place with entrees in the $20-30 range; I assume that with apps, drinks, and desert we'll run around $75-80 per person before tax and tip.

      2. You definitely want to go to a more casual hotel for a good casual dinner.... Because they focus on their fine dining, Venetian or Bellagio's casual places aren't that great. I go to Vegas once a month and these are my favorites on the Strip:

Mon Ami Gabi at Paris - My very favorite place in Vegas. It's this French sidewalk cafe/steakhouse with reasonable prices and a fantastic view of the Bellagio dancing waters. They have a great selection of steak sauces and toppers--bernaise, dijon, bleu cheese, etc.

ISLA at Treasure Island -- it's a fantastic Mexican place. Personally I like it better than Bobby Flay's place, and it's slightly cheaper.

The Capital Grille at Fashion Show Mall - The decor of this place seems very fancy and uncomfortable, and you are almost afraid to look at the prices... But it's actually pretty reasonable and the food is fantastic. They have the best/fanciest cheeseburger I have ever had, and it is served with these parmesan truffle fries-- all for a little over $20.

No matter where we stay in Vegas, I always make it over to ISLA for those amazing blackberry mojitos.
