DeStefano's Steak in Williamsburg

Worth the scratch? I'm always a little wary when I can get a reservation on a Friday night with short notice so easily.

  1. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If it's good steak cooked perfectly- this is your spot. There's not much of 'cool factor' here and it's fairly new (2 years I believe) so you don't have the 'historical' factor. I will say we have had the porterhouse for two (twice) and it was cooked perfectly both times. Frankly, it was amazing. The owner came over and chatted with us personally about the cut and how we preferred it temperature wise, exactly. He was a nice neighborhood guy and definitely takes pride in his establishment. I appreciated the fact that the spinach wasn't creamed like most steakhouses. This spinach was sauteed in garlic and it was delicious.

    I've never seen it crowded, but they definitely have a loyal following from the around Brooklyn and Queens. I recommend it highly as a solid Luger's alternative. In fact we take our discerning european family members here as an "american dining experience" when they are visiting. They love it.
