iso: picnic baskets

i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where i might be able to find a good and still relatively inexpensive picnic basket (although, i have no idea how much a picnic basket might cost... price points would be appreciated too), in the downtown area.

for those that might be interested, i'll be making a roasted tomato/goat cheese tart, roast beef sandwiches (with a daikon slaw) and chicken salad sandwiches (with pickled red onions and walnuts). i could probably find versions of these recipes online, if anyone's interested. :)

thanks for any help, gang.

  1. I bought mine many years ago at Homesense/Winners. You can expect to pay around $50-75 for a good size one.

I now need to dig mine out and plan a picnic!

I believe a larger Canadian Tire is a good bet. Williams Sonoma would likely have them as well.

    2. Benix has them pretty sure. Find Benix in most major malls in the GTA.

Good call. I do remember seeing them in Benix in the Dufferin Mall which also has a Winners.

Word. And the ones from Benix come with inexpensive plates and cutlery inside, with straps and compartments to keep them from shifting. Pretty cheap too from what I recall. Not a bad buy at all.

      2. I have seen them at Crate & Barrel recently. Pottery Barn might also have some. Both a bit pricey, Crate & Barrel likely less...also Crate & Barrel is not downtown so that could be a factor. Have a great picnic!

        1. I recently bought ours at Bowrings in the T-D Centre.
