I am looking for suggestions of places I can host a cocktail party for 60-75 people at the end of August. I am on an extremely limited budget of $3,500 (about $40 per person). I know, I know. But it is what it is. I am open to raw space, but also restaurants that have either have an upscale vibe for more of a dressy fete - or possibly just a cool, fun space to hang.

While I'm not tied to an area the most central place for all invitees would be in the Madison, Summit, Monclair, Hoboken, Jersey City area.

Thanks for your suggestions. I know this is not an easy one....

Several years ago, we hosted a cocktail party of that size in a gallery. in Midtown. Our budget was less than that. I don't know Hoboken Jersey City area, but I imagine there are some galleries which might be a good space. The gallery has the advantage of exposing its art to new potential customers. And we were then able to spend our money on the caterer and bartenders. Also, with that budget, you might limit the party to wine, beer and one "specialty" drink.
