Is The Athens (HFX) still good after the move?
re: Greg B
Thanks for the replies...
Well folks, I was there once, last year right after the switch, with the disclaimers on the menus.
(A bad sign no matter what, and very amateurish. Do I get a discount in the event of a bad experience, or is my sense of charity supposed to kick in?)
I am sad to hear corroboration of what I thought of the food at the time.
Our server was perky enough and friendly and all, so whatever on that score.
Also, personally, I never really cared about the sevice at The Athens much, as it was always prompt at least.
But the food I loved so much (20+ years) was a disaster. Read: Much smaller portions that were not prepared well. Dry (DRY!) souvlaki, tasteless potatoes and tsatziki. Barren, bland salad. Like someone just didn't care at all.
And the kicker? Higher prices! Seems to me, that Sonny boy really did the place in with what I suspect are his great "innovations."
So sad. I'll always miss this place. Another one bites the dust.
