Road Trip-Need BBQ Recs

mere07 Jun 4, 2009 02:14 PM

I am headed west to a small town called Olney this weekend from Dallas. We will be taking 114 to get there. Does anyone know any good bbq spots along the way? Even if its a little out of the way, that is fine! We will be going on Sunday so I am aware some places might be closed.

Seems that they are closed on Sunday. We will definitely keep Lee's in mind if we head back. Thanks!

Damn, mere07, I think that is going to be hard to do, especially on a Sunday. I was going to suggest that you go on down to the BeeHive at Albany, but they are closed on Sunday. Best I can come up with are two burger joints in Jacksboro: the Famous Herd's , and Skinny's . Phone for Skinny's is 817.594.3101. Don't know if either of them is open on Sunday. You may have to route yourself thru Ft. Worth and hit the Railhead, which is very good. Good luck on your trip.

Thanks for the recs. I was afraid the majority of places would be closed. We will probably be headed back that way next Friday, so I will definitely look up the BeeHive. I am intrigued just by the name!
