Chacacero ---to bbq or not?????

As a longtime, loyal, and staunch defender of Chacacero I have to say I was a little disappointed today with my sandwich. I made the carnal sin of veering off my usual path and getting something different ---instead of the usual large chicken (which i usually save half of) I went for the large BBQ chicken. I have to say, I didn't like it all that much. I mistakenly thought the only difference was the addition of red peppers, with maybe a hint more of seasoning on the chicken. It's true, they do add red peppers. But they also (over) season the chicken. Instead of all the simple, basic flavors melding together to virtually "sing" in my mouth,--as they usually do --I felt like they were all competing with one another and there was just too much going on. I like spice, but the usual clean, sharp flavors of the sandwich seemed lost.

Do others agree? Is the standard sandwich the way to go? Or do others enjoy the BBQ? I think that'll be the last time I stray from my "usual," but I'm sort of bummed I was letdown...

    1. Put me in the "not" column. Not that I don't like the barbecue, but I do think less is more in a Chacarero chicken sammy.
