Okay so I am getting together with an old dear friend this Sat night and we are meeting up in Chinatown - I am used to my Flushing haunts so I totally have no idea where to go. The only thing is Joe's Shanghi is out b/c my hubby cannot stand soup dumplings as he has had a traumatizing soup dumpling burn incident! Suggestions need - ability to talk (somewhat), good affordable food and doesn't have to be Chinese just in the area.
Here are some threads that should be of help:
Best Chinatown Restaurant:
I finally went to Cantoon Garden. The place was packed, majority of patrons were Chinese, which i was happy about .. Most had casserole dishes on their tables, I tried to order the lamb , which I think Lao recommended. But the waiter told me not to. Maybe it is the wrong season for the lamb or something,, Instead I got the Chicken stew casserole. I think it was same as "3 cup" taiwan chicken. It was excellent. Little pieces of chicken on the bone, in casserole with ginger, onion, garlic. the sauce brownish and tasty. Problem was it was so good, that i ate the whole thing myself with 2 bowls of rice and then also had some vegetable I think it was water spinach, and it was tasty but also huge,, i couldnt finish that one and took it home. I llike the place. I also like the restaurant on the other side of JingFong ,, Shanghai Asian , which is excellent.
