Chefs Table Winter Garden

  • 5

So I was in Florida for my yearly visit with friends and family and my best bud was telling me about this restaurant in Winter Garden he had heard about but hadnt tried. He lives in St.Petersburg but said the drive out would be pretty on a May evening. What the heck I say lets give it a shot. So we dress up a little and head out I-4. Well it actually was a really pretty evening. We had a 6:30 reservation and that time of evening in Florida before the heat of summer really kicks in is lovely. Any way timed it perfect and got to the Chefs Table right at 6:30. The host also the Chef Kevin greeted us and seated us and said that his wife Laurie would be right with us as he was greeting a large group of 10 or so at the same time. Well to me this all seems cute and fun but as a restaurant guy myself I am all about the food. Service is important and theres was very very good but have to say the food completely took me by surprise. One word, exceptional!! They offer a three course menu each night and with 4 or so choices in each category I only wish we had brought 2 more people. Everything we tried was delicious.I am a mussel freak and have had them 100`s of times and these were by far the best ever. The broth I could have had as soup it was so good.Lovely raw tuna was also enjoyed thoroughly.Entree of bone veal chop big as a hatchett seared and cooked rare was superb as was the nightly added special of short ribs. Some where in there was some outrageously good gnocchi side dish also.So were batting a damn good average here when the dessert came. I am not a chocolate fan but my friend is so we had the chocolate souffle with peanutbutter sauce. We almost got in a fist fight over it it was so incredible. I licked the bowl and the pitcher the sauce was in. I am now a chocolate convert.
I would highly reccomend anyone within 100 miles check this place out. Its small and intimate and at 100 dollars a couple it aint cheap but having eaten all over the country and alot of the world I have to honestly say it was exceptional....

    1. Does the Chef's Table have a full bar, or is it just beer/wine?

Thanks. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer for them to get their license.

Some establishments are to close to a school or church to get a full liquor license. I am sure you can go one night without a martini and enjoy a great bottle of wine.. dont let that stop you
