Suprising my wife with her first trip to Vegas in July. Need advice on dinner. Looking at Picasso's 6:30 seating for the value meal. Thoughts? Somewhere more special? I looked at Tower de Eiffel, but think it will be too hot in July to eat there. Haven't been to vegas in 8 years, don't know what is new...Please help

I highly recommend Alex at The Wynn. Alex also has a value meal for dinner before 7 p.m. I've been to both Alex and Picasso, and strongly prefer Alex.

Now that Alex has the Taste of Wynn special and their regular prix fixe is less expensive and includes an additional course, it's hard to justify Picasso over Alex. Picasso is quite good though and has views of the Bellagio fountains if that's important to you. I'm trying to be diplomatic in anticipation of LVI adding his 2-cents.

My personal choice would also be Alex, but Picasso is a fine choice. I prefer Alex in part because it offers more varied, and more interesting, menu choices - and prepares them expertly, of course! Picasso's menu is limited to a couple of fixed price choices, generally offering more traditional items, and the menu seldom changes. However, the dishes it offers are done very well, and if you rarely go to Picasso it doesn't matter that the menu doesn't change.

Yes, Alex is better, but I think you'll be very pleased if you go to Picasso.

I've eaten at Picasso twice, both for special occasions. The room is very cool and the Picassos are great. However on each occasion I was disappointed in the food. I thought it was somewhat pedestrian and not as well prepared as it should have been for the price point. I would concur Alex is better; I also like L'Atelier Joel Robuchon, but it may not be great for a more romantic evening.
