Charleston/Kiawah Trip in June

oston Chowhound looking for some recommendations for a family trip in June. We are staying in Kiawah but plan a visit to Charleston. We have a 14 year old son who we'd like to take to a place that has a good fun vibe and it can't be missed. Also good bakeries since we love our dessert!!!

have you ever been to kiawah before? There isn't a lot to eat on the island. You really only have one shopping center, and I am not sure what restaurants they have in the shopping center. They do have a great grocery store "Freshfields" it has a wide variety

There are a lot of great places to eat in Charleston, but it is a sold 45-55 mins to downtown where you want to go.

Try the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Charleston on King Street. Good food, not expensive, and it is a very cool, funky place. Your son will like it, I'm sure.
