Can anyone offer an opinion on this place? I want to get a gift certificate for my daughter who lives in Portland and love Louisiana cooking. How does it compare to Montage?

Thanks one and all.

  1. OK, if no one has anything to say about Roux, can anyone offer another suggestion for a 29-year-old and her boyfriend? I have gotten her certificates in the past for Montage and Clyde Common, both of which she liked very much.

I like Roux. There are only a small handful of places doing what they do, and I think the food is pretty consistent. I especially like the brunch they offer. I say stick with Roux, I doubt your daughter will be disappointed.

if she somehow liked Montage, she will LOVE Roux.

other places she may really enjoy:
        EaT oyster bar
        Acadia
        Everett Street Bistro

      2. I too like Roux. Creole food with a Northwest twist. Pretty unique and good both times I ate there.

        1. It's been some time since I ate at Roux, but I was very impressed with every dish. I would recommend it.

          1. Thank you all for the information; we're going to save Roux for when I visit, hopefully later this summer.

In the meantime, I got her a gift certificate from Ten-01, and she was thrilled.
