I agree that the food is pretty "Meh", but it's more for drinks and atmosphere. As much as people hate on the food at Alchemist in JP, I actually quite like the place, and they've got outdoor seating as well. It's just across the river and parking at the Cambridgeside Galleria lot is cheap- $3.99. The service was very accomodating when we were there and for well-behaved kids I think the patio would be a good option, although it's a bit more upscale than what I would normally think of as "kid friendly."
