Raspberry Lime Rickey Syrup
A friend has posed the following question to me...do you Bostonians have any recommendations (homemade or store bought?)
Do you know of a really good raspberry syrup that I can use for raspberry lime rickeys? I have always used raspberry Zarex, but apparently they aren’t making it any more and I can’t find it anywhere. I’m well known for making great rlr’s. I’m having company this coming weekend and I don’t want to disappoint them.
Can you help?

If you want to make it at home, I just used this recipe and it was really good.
I got it from the current issue of Cook's Country magazine
3 Cups frozen raspberries
2 Cups sugar
1/2 Cup water
4 teaspoons grated lime zest and 1/ Cup lime juice
Seltzer or club soda
iceHeat raspberries, sugar, and water about 5 minutes
Mash them up and add juice and zest, simmer about 5 more minutes.
Strain it and discard solids, refrigerate syrup until cool.
To serve:
3/4 cup selzer and 2 Tablespoons syrup over ice. -
The best used to be made by the Whipple company in Natick but they are now gone. My last batch i got was from one of the mail order bubble tea outfits. Do a google on bubble tea supplies. Most of the larger places have 2-3 types of raspberry syrup. I think i got this big jug here for $11. http://www.lollicupstore.com/s.nl/it.... Only complaint was it had alot of the little raspberry seeds in it but hey at least that tells me its got some real fruit in it. NOT a fan of Zarex at all, yuck!
