I am picking walnuts to make nocino and vin de noix. I'd like to give some as gifts. I'll need attractive bottles.

I'm looking for slim, glass bottles with corks. About 200ml in size.

Anyone know where I could get them in the Los Angeles area or online?

I think the bottles used for olive oil would be pefect (if a little big).

This, without the pattern was what I was thinking http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jackryn.com/images/olive%2520oil%2520bottle%2520small.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.jackryn.com/Autumn_accessories&usg=__czdnP31a5Ui_NcsLJc7BBDCABJc=&h=335&w=335&sz=14&hl=en&start=60&um=1&tbnid=akDZPMACupnI5M:&tbnh=119&tbnw=119&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dolive%2Boil%2Bbottle%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D40%26um%3D1

But an image search of "olive oil bottle" brought up very nice shapes

Specialty Bottles may have just what you're looking for. Just checked - they have both 250 ml and 500 ml corked bottles. They're nice to deal with, great prices, quick shipping, all kinds of cool bottles ( I just bought some cobalt spice jars)

A google search for "empty bottles" will turn up lots of sources. Here's one which offers wine bottles, beverage bottles, sauce, oil & vinegar bottles, pharmaceutical bottles & on -- and on.

Thanks, you guys.

Your suggestions inspired a new way to frame the google search and I came up with these http://www.wholesaleglassbottles.com/906005-volcano-clear-glass-200ml-european-bo90600520012167.html

Now all I'll have to do is figure out a way to get a label on them.

Those bottles are really pretty, rainey, and I think the'd make stunning gifts filled wit your homemade liqueur. It looks like you could slap a label on the wide part of the bottle okay, but I'd worry that the labels would mar the attractiveness of the bottles, filled with pretty liqueur.

I have dealt with this when giving liqueurs in pretty bottles by buying tags with a hole and tying them around the neck of the bottle with a thin ribbon. You can't print these on a computer, of course, but I found silver tags at a stationaery shop and wrote neatly with a Sharpie. I put the name of the liqueur on one side (facing out), and wrote a few ideas for using it on the other.

There are 2 other candidate bottles on that site. One is a sphere and one is a squat cylinder. They have some hot stuff!

Wow, those look great! I'm considering them myself now (although god knows what to put in them). And an excellent suggestion on labelling from Caitlin.

*edit* you know what? If I get my ass in gear this year, maybe they could make good xmas presents - make up a batch of eggnog, and maybe some infused spirits - vanilla vodka, cranberry vodka and some kind of brandy. Something seasonal, yet tasty.

I'm looking for the exact same thing, except I only need four bottles and need them by saturday... which rules out most of these sites since they require larger orders and can't ship in 24 hours.

Anyone know stores in NYC that sell these sorts of glass bottles (other than Broadway panhandler)? I know they must exist.

The Container Store might have something, as well as Zabar's, but oddly enough, this has been a problem for a long time - there used to be a couple of places with an unusual selection of empty bottles but they succumbed to Manhattan's commercial rents years ago. You could try posting on the Outer Boroughs board but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
