Best tartar sauce?

I love all seafood, especially fried clams and scallops. IMHO I think that often the tartar sauce can make or break the seafood. It can't be bottled, must be homemade. I especially enjoy a hint of dill. Where is the tastiest tartar sauce in Massachusetts?--it goes without saying, the seafood must also be good.

Went to Tupelo the other night, a new Southern restaurant in Inman Square. The homemade tartar sauce that came with the fried oyster appetizer was really excellent.

Thought Tupelo was serving the oysters w/a spciy remoulade...

Kelly's of course. There is no question. Why do people order Kelly's fish plates with extra tartar? Because their tartar is not just a condiment, it's a side dish. My dog was crazy for their tartar sauce. Even the seagulls will steal the tartar sauce off your plate if you're not watching. They go barrel picking and fly away with tartar sauce containers in their beaks. It's that good.

If the seafood is really good, I usually forget that the tartar sauce is there.
