Wedding Day Lunch Suggestions?

My fiance and I are having a small (hopefully-charming) wedding ceremony at the Markham Civic Centre Chapel in July. The ceremony itself will be pretty basic - no big dress, no veil, just family (and friends who count as family) - kind of a no muss, no fuss thing. We are planning to then go to a nice restaurant with our group (approx. 15 people), and then off to Montreal for a mini honeymoon (yay).

While we are not exactly 'wedding people', we are most definitely food people! We'd like to find a nice, upscale restaurant in the Markham area to take our guests, preferably one with a small private room we could book. Since we are not spending much on the ceremony, we can afford to splurge for a nice meal. As it will be our wedding after all, we're looking for somewhere rather fancy, and where the food will be delicious. The only thing is, neither of us know very much about restaurants in Markham other than casual options. Does anyone have any suggestions they could pass along?

  1. I haven't been here myself, so I cannot personally recommend the food, but I know The School Fine Dining has a small banquet hall & an upscale atmosphere.

Also, Angus Glen Golf Course does small and large parties (and weddings).

If you can travel a bit, I would recommend Auberge du Pommier. They have one or two private rooms, excellent food, and a lovely atmosphere.

I hope this helps. And congratulations!

I thought of one more place to check out (I haven't been here either). I think they have a private room.

Isn't that the restaurant run by Nick Kypreos' parents?
