I use 2 bakers who bake out of their homes. Denise is in Weston. She does a real buttercream icing and basic flavors - choc, yellow cake, or choc chip. Great, great bday cake. She does some interesting designs. Just got a record player with a record arm for my father's 60th. But it is buttercream, so you won't get the over-the-top designs like with fondant. For fancier, I go with a lady named Vanessa who does fondant out of her home in Boca. Her cake is also good but she can do fancier designs because of the fondant. Her email is cakesbyvanessa@aol.com. She recently posted a photo of a Louis Vuitton purse cake - gorgeous. She has a lot of different flavors. I like the dulce de leche. She is very reasonably priced for fondant. I've found her to be about $100 less than other bakeries. Everyone also loves this cake.

We Take the Cake makes the most amazing cakes. I'm partial to their strawberry one and the key lime. Mmm. There's a full bakery in Ft. Lauderdale on Federal and also a pick-up location in Davie.
