BBQ in Ky/Tn has always been thought to start west of I-65.
Billy's in Lex is an old original, fair, but stick with the pork.
In Versailles,as you come by,go downtown -near the courthouse.
Wilson's lunch,or grill,or something.
Was a poolroom and the racing crowd from stable hands to farm owners can be seen having chili dogs, burgers, fries, cold beer.
Usually my first stop when I arrive at the airport.
I couldn't agree more with TomFl about Billy's. Not bad at all, but I'd go with the pulled pork. They also have tasty Mexican corn bread and their portions for french fries and onion rings are enormous.
There's also a new place that I haven't tried, but it's been getting good word of mouth. If you try Old Kentucky BBQ (intersection of Winchester R and New Circle Rd North) let us know what you think.
As for Bowling Green, I love to eat at a place called Montana Grill (not affliliated with Ted's Montana Grill). They have a West Tennessee BBQ plate that is very tasty and enough food for two.
Hope this post isn't too late and hope you enjoy the trip.
