Search Results

I do a search, I get a page of results and I would like to make use of Window's ability to let me open pages in new tabs or windows, but you won't allow it. It didn't used to be that way. Can we get it back, please?

In case it's not clear, I want to be able to go through the list of search results, open each potentially useful looking result into a new tab and then read each tab. I do NOT want to have to click open each search result in the results list window, wait for it to load, read it, go back, look at the next one. I find it far more efficient to work the other way and I can't be the only one.

  1. I'm not having any difficulties doing that in IE7 -- both ctrl-click and the right-click menu work to open search results in a new tab.

    What's happening when you try?

Rather than getting a gray drop down menu with Open/Open in New Tab/Open in New Window as the first choices, I get a gray drop down menu with Back/Forward as the first 2 choices and Forward is greyed out so that it can't be selected.

This is happening to me and I've reported it in the past. However, since search doesn't work ...

I am on IE8 though. This is really annoying. There was another poster verifying this happened in that post

    2. This is happening again. Actually it started a few weeks ago when the checkbox for reviews was added to the boards. I was hoping this was temporary until the new places changes went it. It is not temporary. It makes using search really slow and tedious. With the entire site currentl;y slow and tedious with the installation this becomes even worse to deal with.

Since most of the major problems with the latest install seem more or less in control, any updates on fixing this? It is really annoying.
