Tokyo Sushi on the Pinellas Bayway (between St. Pete Beach and St. Petersburg) is pretty good if you want to stay close to the beach.
It's worth the drive to Madiera Beach and Osaka!
In St.Petersburg, in addition to Hooks and Pacific Wave, there's also Sushi Rock Grill (across the street from Hooks.)
Also, on US 19 (34th St. S) there's Ai-Mei Thai with a killer sushi chef!

We really enjoy the sushi at Pacific Wave. It is located in downtown St. Pete on 2nd street. The sushi chef (Patrick) is great.

I agree that Osaka is really good. But, I hear word that Kinjo (near Tyrone Mall) is better. I'm going next week. But my friend is first generation from Japan and it's her favorite.

I have always been very partial to Hook's on 9th St. N. in St. Pete. In addition to sushi, they also do Japanese, Korean, Thai & Chinese dishes.

              I'll second RibDog's suggestion. Hook's is fantastic.
