Trulli Disappointing
Went to celebrate my wife's 65 birthday here tonight.
Ambience - the room is attractive and well laid out but is in sore
need of a fresh painting and the chairs need refinishing and shampooing.
The men's and ladie's rooms are miniscule and not well appointed and also
in need of a painting.
Service - staff was friendly and helpful and attentive. A dish of broccoli rabe
ordered with the main courses was forgotten.
Food
Appetizer - I had grilled Octopus - perfectly cooked and seasoned - the best dish of the
night. My wife had Baccala - well done but served with what looked like
commercially made potato chips.
Primi - We shared a dish of Malloreddus - homemade Sardinian Saffron dumplings
with sausage and tomato - the dumplings were well executed the sausage was
rich, the Saffron got lost because the sausage overpowered it, the dish was
highly over salted.
Secondi - I had the Zuppa di Pesci and my wife had the rack of lamb.
The Lamb was perfectly executed and tasty - the sauteed dandelion greens which
accompanied it were again highly over salted.
The Zuppa broth was excellent and the clams and mussels were well cooked.
The shrimp (head on) were overcooked as was the lobster. The squid was like
rubber.
