sakurabana is excellent. atmosphere kinda bare bones, but the fish is always fresh and skillfully cut. plenty of designer maki too, which isn't really my thing, so can't testify.

ma soba is ok, but sakurabana is way way better.

sakurabana it is then. not sure if this friend is a sashimi eater or a maki eater or waht her deal is, but it sounds good to me and I just checked out the menu online. thanks.

Sakura Bana is solid and I'm a regular there for eating in as well as takeout - Ma Soba has been really disappointing for sushi every time I've been there, but some of their overpriced noodle dish lunches are pretty tasty.

Update: my lunch date bailed but I went alone and sat at the bar. It was great. The salmon sashimi was some of the best I have had recently. Also reasonable ( $6 for 3 pieces). Atmosphere was a little hectic but I was pleased with everything I had. I will be back!

it's generally quiet in the evenings, if you want a more leisurely meal. glad you enjoyed!

Billy Tse on Commercial St. does a good job with sushi. Short 5 minute walk from FH.
