Lewes, DE and Broadkill Beach-- informal

We will be staying in Broadkill Beach near Lewes DE in June, and are looking for flavorful, informal places to eat in Lewes or on Route 1. We'll probably go to Back Porch in Rehoboth when we want to do fancy, as I've always enjoyed that.

Any ideas? And has anyone been to El Dorado?
I have a vegetarian teen, so steak places and bars are not a good idea.
And any good places to buy fresh fish?
Many thanks

    1. For a flavorful, informal place to eat, I highly recommend Nage on Rt. 1 S in Rehoboth, about 3 miles south of Lewes.

Also, when in Lewes, don't miss Teller Wines on Savanah Rd. Great selection, good prices, excellent staff. This place is a treasure.

        1. Fish On! In Lewes, right off Rt. 1.

          Excellent food, casual, .

            1. I hope you will visit Surf Bagel on Highway One beneath its own billboard. Also be sure to drive into The Villages of Five Points where there are several good restaurants, all casual, including a new Greene Turtle.
For take-out pizza we really like Villa Sorrento which is next to Happy Harry's.
The Second Street restaurants are all very good. The Bake Shop, Azafran, Agave, Half Full and Striper Bites are our favorites and are all casual.
We are crazy about the El Dorado fish and shrimp tacos. El Dorado is behind McDonald's and beside The Gray Hare. http://www.eldoradorehoboth.com
We buy our fresh fish from the Lewes Fish House which is near The Grotto. We often have them fry flounder and steam shrimp for us to bring home. They will steam or fry anything for a very small addition.

I should have mentioned Five Guys. It is across the highway from Arby's and is kind of hidden in a strip mall there.

                  • I was reminded today of Capriotti's vegetarian turkey sub. It is so good. The Lewes Capriotti's is across the street from The Villages of Five Points.

                            Reporting back:

El Dorado was unfortunately vetoed by my daughters.

Went to Striper Bites for lunch. Best thing was the seared tuna app: great flavor, nice presentation, good dipping sauce. We got one to share then ordered a second one. Burger was good, tho they subbed plain jack for jalapeno without telling me. French fries home made. Cream of crab soup, though filled with lumps, was bland.

Dinner at Azafran, just off Second Street, was great. $7.00 tapas till 9 PM on a weekday: grilled with chickpeas, Manchego cheese and endive (yum), baked goat cheese gratin with strips of roasted peppers and grilled garlic shrimp with spicy olive oil sauce (went great with scallion mashed potatoes) wee the standouts. Grilled polenta, grilled asparagus and crabcake with saffron cream sauce were also good. Do not, do not miss the crema Catalane, which is a slightly lighter creme brulee with orange, big enough for 2 people.

The espresso coffee was also exceptional. Thank you!
