Best Restaurants in Williamsburg

Haven't dined in Williamsburg for years. Trying to choose a place for a dinner with friends from the West Coast. Any suggestions?

  1. Not knowing your or or your guests' preferences beyond an assumed West-Coast sensibility, I'll just throw out the standard-bearers:

Dressler for upscale (Michelin-starred) atmosphere, clean, creative, nouveau-American flavors, and polished presentation.

Marlow & Sons for responsibly-sourced seasonal offerings in a cozy, exuberant (i.e. loud) setting. The menu changes daily and can be somewhat limited, but there are always several appetizers, salads, sandwiches, cheese plates, oysters, and inspired entrees to choose from.

Peter Luger would be a must for any uninitiated beef-worshiper (obviously).

Aurora for the neigborhood's best take on modern Italian fare.

Egg for all things rich, fried, Southern, and delicious.

The first 3 places lean towards the upscale end of the neighborhood spectrum - if price or cuisine are limiting factors, please post further specifications, or see the lengthy discussion here:

    Marlow & Sons
    81 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211

    149 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211

    135A N 5th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

    Peter Luger Steak House
    178 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211
