Chic Chinoise - brief review

  • 8

This resto is located on King St W, just west of University Ave.

Went for a birthday dinner last Saturday. The decor is amazing and the service was very good but the food and drinks was just ok. They did have a lot of choice and accommodated vegetarians, people who were allergic to certain ingredients etc. They have a dim sum menu but it was limited during dinner.

Their dim sum rated a bit better than their regular dinner menu. I ordered fresh shrimp rolls and they were ok. My friends ordered the tom yum soup, har gow, chicken satay and grilled salmon. The only stand out was the har gow.

While we were leaving at 10 pm, they were setting up for an event. So the only way I will go back is to have a few drinks and attend a Saturday night event.

It reminded me of a dressed up "Spring Rolls". So I guess chowhounds, that just says it all.

Aaargh! Indeed. That says way too much. Chinatown is not that far away...

      1. Tom Yum Soup, Chicken Satay, Grilled Salmon? Is this even a Chinese restaurant?

Well its supposed to be Pan Asian but you don't get that from the name.

I'm not really sure how French in the name in any way implies purism in Chinese food.

Lots of Chinese restaurants have unusual non-Chinese names that has no bearing on anything the restaurant serves.

Its probably the Chinese in the name that implied Chinese.
