Amsterdam: Quick questions about GREETJE
Looking at the great menu at GREETJE thanks to a chowhounder here and wonder about the sample dessert and appetizer plate for about 22-24 Euro -- minimum 2 persons.
Does this mean 22-24 Euros per person or for the whole plate to be shared with two persons? I kind of think it means 22-24 Euros each, but wanted to check as the dinner is quickly adding up if we get both the appetizer and dessert sampler plates (100 Euros right off) and then add 60 more Euros for two entrees along with wine, coffee etc?
I have a feeling we will not be able to resist the sidewalk fries and herring stands before dinner so would this wonderful restaurant be wasted if we failed to have enough appetite for all those samplers? I would have a hard time making a choice, that is for sure.
Maybe we should go to DE WITTE UYL or also got a very nice recommendation for MARIUS from the Chowhound file but it is several years old.
Only a few more days, so I hope someone can answer this before we leave. Thanks.
Just had a look at the Dutch version of the menu at Greetje. I can't be 100% sure, but it looks like the "Big Beginning" and "Grand Finale" plates are EUR 22 - 24 total for two people to share. The Dutch text says EUR 22,75 for two people. And this would also appear to be in line with the regular dessert and starter prices.
My vote definitely goes to either Marius or De Witte Uyl over Greetje, but I guess you already knew that having gone through the other threads - both Marius and De Witte Uyl are on my list of best Amsterdam restaurants.
