Asia de Cuba - worth it?

Hey there - coming to Scottsdale for the first time next month and looking for a killer meal, as always. I'm surprised not to see a single post for AdC - should I take that as my answer?
Cheers!

  1. There's nothing wrong with it. I've had some good meals there, and it's a fun atmosphere. But if you're looking for a "killer meal", defined by food quality and preparation, there are better options. Depending on how far you're willing to travel, there is Binkley's, Noca, Posh, The Mission.....all of which have been raved about on this board.

    1. I LOVE Asia de Cuba. there's nothing else like it in Scottsdale. The portions are pretty large so you can share everything...but make sure to shave room for dessert...the Bay of Pigs is awesome! Also...if you're into it they have a band that plays in house on Fridays, it makes for a really nice relaxing yet upbeat atmosphere. I recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

      1. I really like Asia de Cuba in LA and couldn't wait for it to open here, but for some reason, it's not on my "favorites" list. I think it's a little pricey (and I don't mind spending $$ on food), but it's a fun, sexy place & the food is really good. Maybe it's because I associate it with LA, and it doesn't seem like a "local" place???? I feel the same way about Roka Akar.

        1. Vincent's on Camelback has been around for a long time and is consistently good. He is a french chef - trained in France but his cooking is French/Southwestern. Smoked salmon quesadillas, duck tamale appetizers. Great rack of lamb, veal tenderloins with southwest twist, and to die for desserts!! In 15 years of going there - never been disappointed.

          1. Here is a review I did a couple of years ago. I liked Asia de Cuba, but I agree with ejs, you can get a better meal in town. If you're looking for a cool scene with very good food, AdC may be the place. If you want a great meal with good music and some fun, I'd suggest Noca or The Mission. Binkley's is smaller and quieter, but you will have an incredible meal. Here is the link.

            1. Hey all - thanks so much for the responses! I am definitely interested in at least one meal where quality, preparation and presentation combine so that I'm calling up friends after to talk about it. Sounds like this may not be quite the spot for that but I'll probably give it a shot anyway, even if just for apps and drinks. I'll look into the places mentioned but would prefer not to range too far from FireSky so if there's anything within a few miles of that, I'd love to hear about it. Cheers :)

Directly across the street from FireSky is Posh. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Very innovative. Reviewed at www.ericeatsout.com
