I would like to know where to get good chocolate cake in Montreal, the chocolaty-er the better! Thanks!

Does Cocoa Locale make a chocolate cake with raspberry puree in the batter? I find that raspberry puree makes chocolate cake even more intense.

I bought a spicy chocloate cake for my son's third birthday party because she was out of chocolate chai. The 3 year olds LOVED IT. I am talking about her dark dark chocolate cake with chili flakes on top:) I was kind of worried about the spice when i bought it but my son and his friends are dark chocolate snobs so I had to get a chocolate one.

      2. It's not even a contest: cocoa locale. The chocolate chai is to die for (I have one for a dinner party tonight, in fact), and the spicy chocolate is also lovely. The chocolate lavender is a bit perfumey for my taste, but gorgeous if you're into it.

Just be sure to get there promptly at noon when she opens, and be prepared: there will probably be a line up waiting to get in. If you get there at 1, you're too late and will have to make do with what's left.

Grab a brownie while you're there, they're divine.

The elusive chocolate orange with Christmas spices is tops. IMHO, of course.

You can just call and reserve a cake at noon, she'll tell you what she has that day, and she'll have it all boxed up and ready for you, even if you pick it up at 5:58 :)

          2. Out of the way but worth it for me: super chocolatey and fudgey!
Edit: the link function is not working properly but I am referring to Cantor bakery in St-Michel (8575 8th Avenue).

            1. for a simple and yummy chocolate cake.. the "chocolate coke cake" at fressers is delicious. Its a plain rich chocolate cake with a great icing.

I LOVE the " Chocolate coke cake" from Fressers!!!! The icing is AMAZING! Next to the Cocoa Locale Chocolate Chai cake this is my favorite.

              2. Who remembers Woolworth's chocolate cakes?? and the pinch-a-balloon priced sundaes

I have mentioned them here many a time, and am still looking for comparable. I tried the Fresser's coke cake, and maybe it was an off day, but it just wasn't mind blowing. Now, I know it shouldn't be hard to do chocolate cake right (I'm not talking about classier chocolate cake like what Reema does) - I just mean honest to goodness, rich, dark, dense (dense to me is very important - I don't want fluffy) cake with oh so yummy icing.

Woolworth's also had some incredible donuts. Oh God, don't get me started Blondee.
