Hamburg- Portugese, fish, for woman dining alone :( boohoo

I'm here until Sunday and am interested in getting out of St Georg for some mid-range (price, not quality) eating.

Last night I went to Kham, the Tiebetan on Lange Reihe and it kicked my butt. Cafe Gnosa the night before for a plate of potatoes and herbed quark (yum), with a glass of reisling. Now I'd like to venture out a bit, but don't want to waste a taxi ride and not know exactly where I'm going and if it will be worth my while.

Please help, darlings.

  1. PS- The breakfast at the Royal Meridien is phenomenal, and I've been making a fool of myself there every morning. Incredible views of the Aussenalster. Don't miss it.

Desy, have you been to Nil restaurant? It's fairly eclectic cuisine, pretty sure they serve fish, and it's in the moderate price range. The owner is a sweetie, too.

I know qype isn't as reliable as it used to be, but reliable HH posters are Hotzenplotz & Barnie. See if they have any reviews on fish or Portuguese places. I'd trust their assessment.

Good advice. It looks like Nil is listed in the Slowfood guide for Germany. Sunday night family-style dinner looks really appealing.
