Anyone been to the California Sushi Factory in Santa Monica?

In my opinion, they make cheap rolls using cheap fish. Not 'Houndish, but it attracts lots of student-types on a budget (which, as a former grad student, is totally understandable).

That's pretty much the only reason I went there

Good enough if you're not in a 'hound mood.

Even as a poor grad student it wasn't a fave of mine...they do huge, poor-quality rolls consisting of everything you can imagine, heaping in mayo. I actually like creative rolls in addition to more traditional sushi, but I didn't like the ones they serve there.

They're still open? Huge, sloppily prepared rolls. Choose the customer created favorites hand written on the wall! Hey, it was great back when I was in school (in the same vein as the all you can eat at the Lighthouse and Cowboy sushi), but yeah, like the others, I've moved on.
