Checkers---anyone out there like it?

For the second time, I've tried Checkers for cheap burgers. Thought I was gonna die.

Their Buford is putrid.

Anyone like them?

I haven't had Checker's in a really long time. I used to order a chili cheeseburger and curly fries. It was always good late at night after a night on the town. It's been at least 5 years, though.

It wasn't putrid, but I wouldn't go to Checker's if something else was open nearby. It's also never something I crave.

I like it every now and then. I think their meat is better quality than McDonald's or Wendy's.

They changed to Rally's hereabouts, and they're okay if your gall bladder is in good shape. But you said putrid. Do you actually mean the meat was spoiled?

when the chain first started, i had never tasted seasoned fries before, and they were something of a revelation. It is the only thing i ever crave, and the things are evil. So greasy they almost burst in your mouth.

the burgers are dry and don't taste like much, but they all taste that way to me in fast food world. i see no reason to go there except to get some greasy fries.

Wow, I didn't realize until I read this thread that I like putrid things. Imagine that!

Checkers/Rally's also carries fried apple pies dusted with cinnamon sugar. They're amazing when they're fresh.

Their fries are good and they have yummy fried apple pies... their shakes are okay too. Their burgers are extremely ordinary, but no worse than McDonalds.

I used to like them in college, but now I only like their fries. If I want cheap, tasty fast food burgers, I still default to McDonald's every time.

I had their bacon cheeseburger at their new/first Brooklyn location and liked it a lot. While nowhere near the best burger I've ever had, it was still better than McDonalds. The seasoned fries were especially good. I also liked the fact that they gave me an order number and took about four minutes to prepare my burger.

We've had a majority of our locations close in the last 2 weeks, FYI. No announcement, just shut down and painted gray.
