Jerry's wood-fired dogs!
Has anyone other than me tried Jerry's for hot dogs? This OC chain now has four branches. I think they are really tasty, made especially to Jerry's specs, are cooked to order over a wood burning barbecue, then topped with your choice of about 30 different toppings. Their fries and potato chips are great also, cooked to order, and not at all greasy. Has anyone else tried them and what do you think? Check out: http://www.jerrysdogs.com/

Ate at Jerry's for the first time the other day. Had two of the "signature" natural casing dogs. Excellent! I am quite partial to the real open flame taste (just like a Sunday barbq at home!) and the dogs are good quality and the cooking done just right. They need to learn (as do many places) that some discretion is required with the toppings. Had one with cheese. cole slaw, mustard, onion and pickles and the dog was buried. I can remember getting the same dog at the Wiener Factory....no matter what toppings you got (my favortie was red cabbage, cheese and onion), it was always prepared so you could get it in your mouth without a problem. Many places just think, "more is better", which is not the case. So, other than getting picky about too much toppings, I say Jerry's are pretty darn good dogs. My first visit to Fab's a few months back was quite underwhelming....I'd go back to Jerry's for a dog, before Fab's.

Went when there was the one location in Santa Ana. I didn't have a hot dog, but a sausage. The wood grilling was a good touch. It was good, but Portillo's is as far south as I'll drive for a hot dog. (Vienna Beef).
When people say things like "made to their specs", it doesn't mean a thing to me. The only other place I remember hawking those wares was that "Between The Bun" in East LA that came and went quick....they also had a huge sign out front bragging "Voted Best Hot Dog".....by who and when? They used the hot dogs from Cantella. I don't know what it is about the Cantella hot dogs, they seem to be natural casing, but they just don't have the snap. Tommy's uses that brand and I'm fairly sure The Stand does too.
Next time you talk to your pal Jerry, ask him if its Cantella's. -
Ok, ok! You got my attention in the 'Best hot dog in LA?' thread. I haven't been but I'll give it a try soon. The menu looks good, have you tried their burgers? I may try one of each.

re: sel
No I haven't, but they look good, as do the sausages other than hot dogs! I spoke with Jerry at the newest location at the Irvine Marketplace. He seems like a real hot dog maven who has really studied the best dogs before concocting his formula. His dogs are all specially made forh him. I've only been twice, but I think his dogs are great!
