Google Map of establishments with outdoor seating

Hi all- here's a link to a map I've been working on for the last few years with listings of restaurants, bars, lounges, cafes, etc., with outdoor seating, seeing how I love to eat outside so much! The links come from my own travels but also from my friends and random people who know of a spot that isn't on there. I'm mainly in San Francisco so you'll notice right off the bat that 99% of the listings are concentrated there, so please let me know what I'm missing in all the other parts of the Bay Area. As much as possible, I'm trying to stay away from places that only have a couple tables out front on the sidewalk (since I really like places with outdoor patio seating out back and that's what this map originally just started out highlighting), so please try and make sure they at least have a section for their sidewalk seating or some kind of barrier delimiting it from all the foot traffic. Finally, the map is public but only editable by me as a way of keeping some quality control, so if you have a place to add just leave a comment on the map and I'll add it!

Enjoy!

Across the street from Cafe Claude, Gitane also has outdoor seating on the street/alley.

Progressive Grounds in Bernal Heights has very nice patio seating out back.

Epic Roasthouse is in the wrong place on the map. You also might consider adding South Beach Cafe - it's outdoor seating is on the sidewalk, but it is under some trees with a view of the Bay - quite nice.

McCormick and Kuleto (and probably a bunch of other places at FishWharf); Clown Alley, or whatever it's called now (Pickles?)

McCormick has outdoor seating? All the years I've been there, even recently, I never noticed. Opentable is not showing outdoor seating as one of its features.

Surprisingly The Franciscan has an outdoor deck that isn't like most FW outdoor seating which is basically sidewalk.

Anyway, the East Bay Express puts out a yearly outdoor seating guide.

It would be nice, if like that you could add a little description of the patio area to your map.

Opentable also lists outdoor dining, but they combine sidewalk/patio so you never really know. However, maybe 75 percent of opentable outdoor seating is patio. I don't know if there's a really good way to search outdoor seating there. I've only looked for it on a one on one basis.

I've been documenting outdoor seating in the Chow Places (Restaurants) database. I have been clearly marking what type of outdoor seating is available ... patio, sidewalk, deck, etc. Patio pretty much is what you are looking for and here are 340 Bay Area restaurants with patios.
              http://search.chow.com/search?search_board_id=1&query=outdoor+patio&sort_mode=relevance&advanced=1&to_date=now&search_boardgroup_id=1&from_date=10+years+ago&type=Restaurant

When I say patio, I mean patio. I don't count places on Belden as having patio seating. I consider that sidewalk.

I'm not sure if Google still has a limit of 99 places you can input. If so, you might want to consider splitting you map into SF, East Bay, North, Bay, South Bay. I have a map that did that with wineries and if you need some help with that feel free to email me.

If you change the above search criteria to Outdoor and sidewalk will turn up another 198 restaurants, but I'd estimate that at a minimum half of those are just tables on the sidewalk.

Changeing the criteria to outdoor and deck will yield another 19 restaurants.

Outdoor and porch results in two more restaurants.

Searching places has its ... problems ... these days. For how to change the search critera, read this first

I didn't put a description of the outdoor seating in Places but I guess I should if I know as that would be helpful. Places has been a learning experience on what is useful. I've only recently been adding a brief description about restuarants and started adding Event Facilites a few months back.

M&K's Dolphin room has a patio attached to to it which has a great view of the Bay. It's at the rear lower level. I can vouch for the fact, because we had an office luncheon in the Dolphin Room and I sat and smoked there.
