Moving From Silver Lake to Del Mar. Restaurant Suggestions?

  • 5

So after being an eastsider for 9 years, I'm moving west to Del Mar. I'd love to know good places to eat specifically Mexican, vegetarian, pizza, coffee shops, and sushi. Any tips for grocery stores and farmers markets would rock too!

Thanks!

  1. As in, the Del Mar near San Diego? That would be on the California board. There was a good thread that I recall about North County food, especially Mexican.
This board is only for L.A. and Orange counties...

      "AND" Ventura County.

Should have been more specific. Meant Del Mar as in Washington and Centinela, between Santa Monica and Culver City. That's still LA right?

I've never seen it referred to as that. But that is a great stretch for food, with the classic Taqueria Sanchez on the west side of Centinela between Washington and Culver (great shrimp tacos, good salsa bar) and the incredible Mariscos Chente on the other side for fresh whole shrimp and grilled fish.

You'll have more success getting recommendations if you call it Mar Vista. Gallegos Mexican Deli a block west of Centinela on the south side of Venice Blvd. for tacos, tamales and a wonderful barbacoa burrito (I like it best with meat and avocado only).

Pepe's Galley on the NE corner of Grandview and Venice for wonderful breakfasts (I'm partial to their Polish sausage and eggs and their chilaquiles and don't forget to ask for a side of their red salsa) and check out the Mar Vista Farmers Market on Venice Blvd. too.
