Looking for Hartford area restaurant specials
With restaurants hurting due to the recession, I've heard that area restaurants are trying to bring customers in with specials. The Hartford Courant discussed a Wednesday night special, 2 for the price of one pasta at Sauce in Glastonbury. Does anyone know of any other great deals?

I've got a great one for you. Oporto on Park Street in Hartford (just over the West Hartford line). They have a killer fixed price menu which on their website (and online menu) says it's "daily" so to me that means it's not exclusive to week days.
$27 for 3 courses or $40 for 3 courses with 3 glasses of wine.

I just tried it for the first time last night and I'll be writing a separate review on c'hound for it in a moment. -
Bonterra in Southington has a great deal Tuesday through Thursday: 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $32.95. The entrees offered are full portion and very filling. We've had the Gemelli with sausage and chicken, the panfried tilapia, and the chicken bruscetta. All were wonderful. The cod piccatta was just okay as the batter coating was too soggy. The wines they offer with the special are, of course, on the lower end but the pinot grigio was good as was the malbec.

Apricot's in Farmington has a "recession buster" entree every weekday night. There is only one choice each night. and it varies by night. The price, if I recall correctly, is $12.

Sauce has other deals as well during the week, check out the link. Although I've only been once when they first opened so I can't vouch for any of these specials...

The "Max" restaurants have been running $24.95 prix-fixe meals that are great deals. Check their web sites.

re: masha bousha
It probably helps to get onto the Max Group mailing list. I get periodic email messages about the $24.95 dinners as well as other interesting offers like the new MaxVantage plan, which allows you to accumulate points toward dining and/or gifts. I can't remember how I got on the list (probably made an online reservation). You can also go to the Max Group site www.maxrestaurantgroup.com , click on any of the locations, and then click on the link to sign up to be on their mailing list. From that point, you can choose to get info on any or all of their restaurants.
