Singapore: The Queen & Mangosteen Pub

Every now & then, one comes across an eatery which offers just that ONE dish that makes you want to come back again & again & again. British pub, The Queen & Mangosteen, is one such place. And that amazingly simple but addictive appetiser dish on their menu which had me all hooked up is the Spicy Minced Beef with Thai Basil & Bird's Eye Chilli, served with Warmed Corn Chips & Sour Cream.

The balance of spices in the minced beef was precise & perfect. The corn chips had exactly the right crispness & taste. The sour cream (with chopped chives on top) added just the right richness of taste, and a stab of sourish tang to undercut the heavy, beefy mince. Put together, it was the PERFECT dish!!

There was one other item on their menu which I really liked as well: the Fisherman's Pie with Mashed Potato Topping, served with a side of fresh, crisp arugula green gently brushed with a light-sweet dressing which juxtaposed with the bitter leaves, again, perfectly.

Some pics to share. The Pimm's & lemonade is a bit weak, though. Why are drinks in Singapore so watered down?!
