Looking for hip/lively restaurants in LA

I'm looking for recommendations of hip/cool restaurants in LA. Places that are fun, chic and full of life - nothing sleepy. Anywhere in WeHo, Hollywood or the Westside. Price is not really a consideration.

  1. Chaya Brasserie ~ Asian-French-Eclectic ~ West Hollywood

Chinois on Main ~ Asain-Calif-French ~ Santa Monica

Koi - Japanese - West Hollywood - I've never gone there, but I've heard & read many times that it has that reputation.

Haven't been in a while, but I wouldn't call Chinois on Main "hip or chic" any more.

      Cecconi's 8764 Melrose
      Bazaar, 465 S. La Cienega
      XIV, 8117 Sunset Blvd.
      Bond St., 9360 Wilshire, BH
      Katsuya, 6300 Hollywood Blvd

3 out of the 5 mentioned are SBE, i guess that's the new hip???

    2. I haven't been there lately, but Geisha House fits the bill.

      1. Cecconi's for Italian, STK Steakhouse, XIV or Bazaar

        1. Wilshire and Beechwood.

Although the outside bar at Beechwood is the real scene as opposed to the inside restaurant.

          Wilshire Restaurant
2454 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90404

822 Washington Blvd., Venice, CA 90292

          1. Went to BoHo last night- Sunset and Vine at the Cinerama Dome/Archlight corner.
Food was fab! Staff was fab - even had desert on the house! It's lively and fun. If you don't get enough drive up a couple of blocks to Hollywood Blvd. It close to Grauman's and the Kodak Theater.
It's a gastropub so, make sure you try their beers. I had a framboise - didn't taste like a beer at all but, it is! Also tried a dark chocolate stout and their hard apple cider :)

is the Ivy still hip? really?

does anyone happen to have a link to an online menu for the Ivy or their fax menu?

also, what about Il Sole is that hip?

                1. re: kevin

Ivy isn't hip, it's a tourist destination. They famously do not publish their menu, good luck finding one.

Il Sole is a celebrity favorite (neighborhood italian).

My rec to the OP is Bazaar, in SLS.
