Farmers Markets in Charlotte?

SweetMaris31 May 22, 2009 07:55 AM

I'm moving to Charlotte next week and am interested in checking out local farmers markets for produce, dairy products, herbs and flowers. Any tips?

I live nearby and enjoy the one at the intersection of Kings Road and Morehead Street. Very inexpensive produce, when compared to the grocery store.

There is the NC Regional Farmer's Market on Yorkmont Rd.

It is open year round five days a week; seven days a week in Summer.

Saturdays and Sundays are great, as local farmers come in from all around to sell their produce. There are also local pork (Grateful Growers) and beef producers (Baucom's) that sell. Also has vendors selling items such as homemade salsa's, cheese, and the like.

There is also a craft shed and a grower's shed.

The Charlotte Tailgate Market operates on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings in the South End neighborhood, at the corner of Camden Road and West Park Avenue.

Theres also the Mecklenburg County Market on Harding Pl., in the shadow of CMC. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays. Produce, local and regional products, and homemade goodies. Also has a string band on Saturdays.
