Peet's Coffee & Great Biscotti at ING Direct Cafe

Peter Cherches May 21, 2009 08:21 PM

I think ING Cafe has 2 NY locations. I go to the one on the corner of 58th & 2nd. They're the only place I can think of in Manhattan that serves Peet's coffee (though there certainly may be others), and they have great biscotti, which they get from the Buck's County Biscotti Company. Both the plain and the chocolate-covered have anise seeds, and are wonderful.

i got so excited when i saw the title of your post! i've missed Peet's so much since i left California. i checked the ING web site...they list the cafes at 58th & Third (not Second), and 49th between Park & Mad. i'll have to pop in when i'm nearby!

If you make coffee at home, most of the supermarkets near me carry Peet's,both ground and whole bean.I'm on Long Island,so can't speak for retailers in NYC but I would think it shouldn't be too hard to find.

thanks, i know. i don't make coffee at home anymore unless i'm entertaining, because i haven't yet invested in a French press, and since i live alone, i don't bother brewing an entire pot just for myself...i never want more than a cup anyway. when i lived in LA it was so easy just to pop into a Peet's and get a freshly brewed cup of Major Dickason's!

Peet's coffee is sold at all Whole Foods locations in the city.

On making coffee is small quantities: I make it at home all the time, using the plastic cone-shape thing you put on top of the coffee cup. Put coffee filter in, some ground coffee, stir in boiling water and wait for it to drip, perfect coffee everytime.

i know they sell the whole beans, but unfortunately the in-store cafes serve their Allegro brand, which i don't really love.

Good to know that Peet's is available in Manhattan. I think at one time there was a Peet's Coffee kiosk at JFK airport's United Airlines terminal (near the Concord Lounge... sigh. .that's a longgg time ago..). I have not flown out of JFK for years so I don't know if Peet's is still there these days. Otherwise, I usually order my Peet's product on-line.

i'm pretty sure there was one at Newark too, but it's been gone for *many* years. boo.

You can also buy a 1 cup sized French Press too.

Actually, I believe you're talking about what's called a 3-cup French press, which makes enough for a mug--it's 3 European-style cups in size.
