Authentic Mexican in Nashville - Al Pastor Tacos, por favor??

tripleshot May 21, 2009 01:49 AM

Anyone know of a real, authentic Mexican restaurant in Nashville? Been here 9 months with the boyfriend, and haven't found anything like what we had in Chicago. We both love a good Taco Al Pastor.

The only place I've found so far that is seriously delicious is a taco truck in East Nashville, called Mas Tacos, Por Favor. She makes amazingy juicy chicken tacos & a delicious jalapeno watermelon-ade. Yum!! But she only serves dinner 2 nights/week.

I've read about El Tapatio, on Nolensville..... sounds intriguing, but I haven't made it down there yet since I live downtown. Any others of note? We're desperate here. Thanks 'hounds!

Have you tried the window-only place on Harding Place called Tacqueria San Luis? It's in the same building with, but behind, the Carniceria San Luis off the corner of Harding and Linbar near I-24. I get carnitas there, but I think they have pastor. The meat market in front is pretty wonderful, too. They sell smoked chickens, real chiccarones, and all kinds of good things. To find it, look for the smokers out front.
