Dog-friendly in the French Quarter...

I'm meeting relatives in New Orleans for a wedding, and one couple will have their dog with them...a whippet-sized dog. I'll be taking them out to dinner one night, and we're staying in the French Quarter.

What restaurants are dog-friendly in the French Quarter? I assume they must have some kind of sidewalk or patio seating.

Bonus if the food's really good. I'm willing to go outside the FQ, also.

  1. You can sit outside with your dog at the Orleans Grapevine in the 700 blk of Orleans and the food is pretty good.

    1. The Pelican Club gets some very positive and some less enthusiastic reviews on this board (count me in the latter camp), but their outdoor setup on lovely and quiet Exchange Place would be perfect for bringing a dog.

      1. I know you can bring your dog into Cafe's a coffee/dessert/pastry shop. Their desserts are phenomenal. Last time I was there I had a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and it was the best I've ever had.

        1. Bennachin (an African restaurant on 1212 Royal) once let me bring in my 32-lb pug, but I'm not sure that's common practice for them. For a casual lunch, La Divina Gelateria just opened up a location in Pirate's Alley (621 S. Peter) with outdoor seating. They serve deliciously simple paninis and gelati.
